Maledictus: A Sweet Handwritten Font for Crafty Makers and Etsy Sellers

Maledictus for Wedding Invitations and Romantic Stationery

I recently tested Maledictus while designing a set of wedding invitations for a spring bridal shower. As a Script Handwritten font, Maledictus brought a soft, joyful energy to the project. The letters are round, slightly bouncy, and feel like a personal touch from the bride herself. I used it for the couple’s names and event titles, pairing it with a clean sans serif for the body text. It gave the design a balanced, elegant feel without looking too formal. If you're a stationery designer or Etsy seller creating digital or printable wedding stationery, Maledictus is a must-have in your Fonts collection.

Creating Candle Labels with Maledictus

While working on a custom candle label for a lavender soy candle, I wanted something that felt handmade and intimate. Maledictus delivered exactly that. I used it for the product name and a short tagline like “Relax & Unwind.” The font’s soft curves and dainty strokes gave the label a whimsical but professional finish. I printed it on kraft paper with a matte finish, and it looked absolutely charming. For small-batch candle makers or label designers, this font works beautifully on product tags and packaging. Just keep the text short—Maledictus is best used for titles and small phrases rather than long descriptions.

Using Maledictus in Digital Downloads and Planner Pages

As a printable creator, I’m always on the hunt for Fonts that add personality without overwhelming the design. Maledictus shines in digital planner pages, especially for sections like “Weekly Goals” or “Gratitude Journal.” I used it in a soft pink watercolor theme and loved how it softened the overall layout. Since it’s a Script Handwritten font, it gives a sense of authenticity and warmth—perfect for self-care or mindfulness printables. Make sure to use it at a readable size, especially for those using Cricut or Silhouette machines to cut the design later. Maledictus is also great for title blocks and decorative headers in digital templates.

Maledictus for Boutique Packaging and Product Tags

I tested Maledictus on a boutique clothing tag for a small handmade shop. The client wanted a label that said “Handmade with Love” in a soft, elegant style. I used Maledictus in a light gold foil print, and it looked absolutely dreamy. The font’s roundness and gentle spacing made it feel luxurious without being too flashy. It’s ideal for boutique tags, clothing swing tags, and even gift tags for seasonal products. Just be mindful of small print sizes—this font is best used for short phrases and titles rather than detailed product info.

Pairing Maledictus with Other Fonts for Visual Harmony

One of the best things about Maledictus is how well it pairs with other typefaces. I often use it with a clean sans serif like Montserrat or Lato for contrast, especially in packaging design or social media graphics. For a more vintage look, try pairing it with a serif font like Playfair Display. If you're a digital designer or SVG cutter, this flexibility makes Maledictus a powerful tool in your branding kit. Whether you're creating shop logos, greeting cards, or boutique packaging, the right font pairing elevates your overall design and brand identity.

What to Watch Out for When Using Maledictus

While Maledictus is a joy to work with, it's not ideal for every situation. I wouldn’t recommend it for long paragraphs, technical product descriptions, or tiny sticker cuts. The font’s decorative nature can make it hard to read at very small sizes or in dense text blocks. If you're designing for laser cutting, vinyl cutting, or machine embroidery, test the font at your intended size first. Also, always check the font license before using it in commercial printables or merchandise. Most sellers will be fine if they purchase a commercial-use font license, but it’s always good to double-check.
